The MSC-XE80S provides a total of 80 AES channels which can be software configured as inputs or outputs in blocks of 8. For example it can be configured from 72 inputs and 8 outputs to 8 inputs and 72 outputs, and other sizes in between in increments of 8 such as a square 40×40. This system utilizes DB25 connectors for increased I/O density with the common Tascam pinout and 110 Ohm AES signal impedance.

This router operates independently from the AES data and can pass arbitrary digital streams. This means, for example, that more than one audio channel can be passed per stream, such as the typical stereo AES stream, which would double this router’s audio channel capacity.

Matrix Switch Corporation routers provide several options for control and system integration. The built-in webpage interface offers a convenient method for control and configuration using a PC or mobile device (Demo). In addition to the powerful yet easy to use MASCOT protocol, there is also support for some common 3rd party protocols. Additional control interfaces on this router include: RS-485, RS-232, and TCP/IP over the Ethernet interface. Matrix Switch Corporation Remote Panels can also be used with this router for remote control up to a virtually unlimited distance over TCP/IP.
